The truth is, even when we know what helps us feel calm and centered, it’s easy to lose that connection when family dynamics, crowded schedules, and emotional triggers come into play. This season can stir up joy and gratitude—but also anxiety, exhaustion, and overstimulation.
So how do we stay grounded when everyone around us seems to be running on caffeine and adrenaline?

your nervous system is at the center of everything you experience — your energy, your emotions, your health, even your relationships. And when you start to understand how it works, you can stop fighting against it and begin working with it. This is what I call making friends with your nervous system.
August arrives with a particular kind of energy—sun-soaked yet tinged with softness. The peak of summer begins to gently bend toward something quieter.

May has always felt like a threshold. A sacred pause between what was and what’s becoming. A time when the earth stretches herself awake and dares to bloom again—after the quiet contraction of winter, after the raw vulnerability of early spring.
This season always brings with it an invitation to grow in new directions. To stretch toward the light. To let go of what’s no longer serving us. And to rise rooted and radiant.

At Embody Your Essence I take a holistic, body-based approach to trauma recovery, recognizing that healing isn’t just about talking—it’s about releasing, rewiring, and reclaiming yourself.
To embody your essence is to live in alignment with your truth, free from the masks and limiting beliefs that weigh you down. It means:

As we stand at the threshold of a new year, there’s something deeper and more transformative than a simple to-do list: the power of intention.
Life is filled with transitions—some we plan for and some that take us by surprise.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapeutic approach designed to help people heal from traumatic or distressing experiences.
Shame is a shadow that looms over many of us, shaping our thoughts, behaviors, and beliefs in ways we may not even fully understand.
We all have an inner voice that narrates our daily lives, offering commentary on everything we do. This internal dialogue, or self-talk, is incredibly influential, shaping our perceptions, emotions, and ultimately, our actions.
Amidst this whirlwind, the concept of taking time alone to rest and restore oneself might seem like a luxury or even a selfish indulgence.
In the pursuit of happiness, many of us often find ourselves entangled in patterns of suffering and limiting beliefs. These internal obstacles can obstruct our path to joy, causing us to feel stuck and disempowered. However, by understanding and breaking these patterns, we can reclaim our joy and live more fulfilling lives.
While resilience undoubtedly involves navigating challenges with courage and perseverance, there’s another vital aspect that often goes overlooked…recharging. I’m here to explore the importance of striking a balance between recharging and enduring to build true resilience

Have you ever found yourself glued to a good story in a book or a movie, feeling like you’re right there “in the thick of it” with the characters? Well, that’s the magic of storytelling because it connects us through shared experiences.
In the hustle and bustle that has become our everyday way of “being”, finding solace and balance can be increasingly challenging. Amidst the chaos, people turn to ancient practices to achieve harmony and well-being.
Stories have the power to heal because they bring us back to ourselves, allowing us to rediscover the strength, resilience, and wisdom that have always resided within us.
The transition from summer to fall is a magical time, when nature displays its magnificent artistry through the changing colors of leaves and the gentle crispness of the air. We are invited to slow down, reflect, and appreciate the beauty in letting go.

In the past few months, I have been thinking about the risk that comes with having and holding expectations. Expectations refer to the beliefs that you hold for the outcomes of events or of other people. Our expectations can lead to major disappointment when reality does not match up to what we had hoped someone would do or how a situation will unfold.
The word Soma means the physical body, and his work includes the assignment of body-based practices designed to help those who are suffering from traumatic experiences. Through somatic therapy practices, we learn to tap in and listen to the body’s wisdom.
Are you in a time of radical reawakening? Are you showing up ready to listen and respond to the cravings of your heart, to release what doesn’t serve you, to feel and move through what needs healing, and to own your story?
Human beings are designed for connection and connectedness. What does it mean to have a truly authentic connection with another human being? To me it means that we are exchanging positive energy with one another, building trust, and forming a bond that makes us feel seen, heard, and understood and one that makes us feel a sense of belonging.
Self-love doesn’t come easy for most of us because we are programmed to put everyone else’s needs ahead of our own. I’m here to remind you that putting yourself at the top of the list is not selfish, it’s a vital ingredient to maintaining your health and wellness.
Each New Year brings with it a reminder to take a deep breath and exhale out a sigh of relief at the opportunity to begin again.
It’s the most magical time, of the year when we are reminded of gratitude and togetherness. It is also a time when we can get caught up in the hustle and bustle and material aspects of the holiday season. I am always surprised by the amount of attention given to Black Friday and the race to consume. I spent years falling into the rhythm of it all until I began to question this annual automatic impulse to buy and spend. Why are we so compelled to honor the holidays and validate our relationships with the latest and greatest trending gifts and gadgets? We scramble to find the perfect symbol of our love and appreciation in hopes that it will be exuberantly received.
A tribe is generally defined as a community of people linked together by family ties, ethnicity, and/or religion, however, tribes are not limited to people who are related. They can be a group of people who share the same beliefs and ideologies or shared missions. I believe that women, in particular, need a tribe of other women to feel fully supported which is why I created the SheBreathes Balance Collaborative in 2016.
What does it mean to live with an open heart? We hear about keeping our hearts open in our yoga practices, in our guided meditations, and in the self-improvement books and blogs we read to stay in the flow. But what does it really mean to have an open heart, and more importantly, how do we keep it open, especially when life can knock us down to our knees at times?
For many people, this change of seasons can manifest itself in the physical body in the form of anxiety – a feeling of heaviness or nausea located in your core or lower abdomen. This can also present itself as lower back pain. Life can feel stressful when things start to shift, and we begin to question our ability to “control” the unfolding of our own lives. The good news is that, when we can learn to root down into our bodies and notice these feelings of tension or nervousness, we become more empowered to create a better sense of peace within ourselves. When we find our own natural sense of balance, we learn to respond differently to the ever-changing dynamics that may feel as if they are swirling around us.
