It is through your body that you realize you are a spark of divinity.

– B.K.S. Iyengar

Have you ever felt like you were “in your head,” lost in thought, and not really in the present moment? Most of us experience this frequently because our culture places value on the ability to think, reason, make decisions and get sh*t done. I’m here to remind you that there is a lot more to being human than making things happen!

As an Intuitive Coach & Healing Facilitator, I work with women every day on the concept of conscious embodiment. I guide them back to activating their divine feminine energy to learn to embody themselves more fully and completely by “being” in the world.

Embodiment, at its essence, means inhabiting more of ourselves. Emotional embodiment is the ability to feel our emotions with sensitivity so that we can better embrace and express them in empowered ways. Physical embodiment means making a real connection with our body and treating it as a temple where we’ve been gifted to live. Simply put, when your body talks, you need to listen!

The reality is that most of us as women in the western world are not fully connecting with our own emotional and physical wisdom. We spend so much of our time in our heads and pushing things forward because we have been socialized to lead with our masculine “doing” energy.

When we are just in our heads, we become disembodied, a state in which we are disconnected and unaware of our emotional and physical sensations. We shut down the natural gift that our body has to feel things and express itself. When we are in a disembodied state, we may feel confusion, have difficulty making decisions, or hold beliefs that we’re stuck or not good enough. We may eat our emotions, reach for sugar or alcohol, or break our own personal boundaries because, when we are disconnected from ourselves, we tend to feel disconnected from others too.

We need to practice dropping from our heads back down to our hearts – to our being energy – and let that inner knowing guide us back from a state of “go” to one of “flow”. By doing this, we learn to listen to our emotional and physical body and respond with what it needs.

Here are some steps you can take when you feel disconnected and need to get back to the flow:

  • Take a Moment to Declutter Your Mind and Focus on the Present Moment
  • Ask Yourself Where You are Feeling Tension in Your Body
  • Breathe into your Heart Space and Ask What it Wants You to Acknowledge
  • Allow Feelings to Surface and Simply Hold & Accept Them Without Judgement
  • Reconnect to Your Physical Body! Dance, Practice Yoga, Walk, Massage…Whatever it Takes.
  • Reset Personal Boundaries with Those Around You
  • Express Yourself Freely and Without Reservation
  • Stay True to Yourself and Honor Your Own Needs

Everyone deserves to be embodied and inhabit more of themselves. Give yourself permission to feel whatever it is you need to feel. Claim what you desire, chase your wildest dreams, love yourself fully and completely. Open your heart, drop into your body, and move back into the flow.

High Vibes + Grateful Heart !
